As forecasted by WTTC, in 2016 Belarus will increase its investments into tourism by 12% and will hold the 6th place in the world in this ranking. Such increase will outperform the worldwide average growth (4,7%) and the European average growth (4,1%). According to WTTC, Belarus will significantly outperform its neighbours by this indicator - Lithuania (160th position), Poland (171th position), Russia (180th position), Ukraine (183the position). It is expected that the investments into Belarusian tourism will grow at as slow pace – an annual growth of 3% within the next 10 years. However, the share of tourism in the total domestic investments will fall from 2,1% in 2016 to 1,9% in 2026.

The World Travel and Tourism Council makes optimistic forecasts on the export of tourism services. According to WTTC, in 2015 Belarus earned $ 1 billion on international tourism. According to analysts, in 2016 this figure will increase by 4,3% (the Europe average - by 3,4%, the worldwide average - by 3%). As a result, Belarus will hold the 54th place by export growth rate. Therefore, within its region Belarus will outperform Poland, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania and Estonia, but will be outplayed by Russia (the 20th position) and Ukraine (the 32th position).

Last year the number of people employed in tourism in Belarus amounted to 70,5 thousand workplaces (a 1,6% share of the total number of employed population). According to the forecasts, in 2016 this figure may fall to 1,1% - to 69,5 thousand. For the future experts see the tendency of recovery of the number of persons employed in Belarusian tourism - by 2026 this indicator might reach 78 thousand. In total 233 thousand people are employed in tourism and the related industries in Belarus, and by 2026 this figure is expected to increase to 236 thousand.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, tourism had a 1,7% share in the GDP in Belarus in 2015. Experts forecast that the number of visits of international tourists to Belarus should reach 1 million 378 thousand by 2026.

The National Geographic Traveler held a contest for the best tourism destinations from the list of the most popular types of leisure in 2015 - National Geographic Traveler Awards 2015. The winners were determined by online voting, with over 240 thousand people participating in the voting. As a result of the voting, Belarus earned 22% votes and took the 2nd place in the nomination “Agrotourism”, coming second only to Italy with 26% of votes. Slovakia earned 20%, followed by Moldova 18%, Russia 9%, Serbia 8%, Australia 4% and Lithuania 3%. In the nomination “Family Vacation” Belarus shared the 10th place with Austria, Russia (Kaliningrad), USA and Thailand. Belarus shared the 8th place with Hungary, Crimea, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Sri-Lanka in the nomination “Rest and Recreation”. The Belarusian airline Belavia entered the nomination “World’s Best International Airline” and shared the 7th position with airlines such as AZAL, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, KLM, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Ryanair, Singapore Airlines, Wizzair and Aeroflot
